Give a little bit....for better BC Sports Coverage

Yes, it's true we haven't started banging the annual tambourines for Relay for Life quite yet (don't worry, that's on the way), it's time to look at something we all love--BC Sports.

The folks at WZBC have crafted many a talented sports journalists--from The Godfather of BC Blogging Eagle in Atlanta and current reporter Adam Rose to Jon Sciambi and even the self-loathing, self-flagellating Bob Ryan got their respective starts at WZBC.

So what? Not surprisingly, BC has tightened the purse strings on the WZBC Sports staff and we need to pitch in and help.

Why?

Well, because 99 out of 100 times the coverage we get from the mainstream media is horrible and I'm confident that someday soon we'll be able to mute our TV's and listen to a streaming broadcast from someone who knows who "Luke Koouchley" is. That and if I have to listen to Ryan Rose on ESPN360 (no relation to Adam Rose...well, he better hope there's no relation) one more time I'm just going to lose it. Again (#6 on the linked draft).

BC Draft Special: Interview with OC Kevin Rogers

This week we were fortunate to get a few minutes of Boston College's new Offensive Coordinator Kevin Rogers to pick his brain a bit on what to expect in 2011.

BCDraft) Over the past few years our offensive line, which has been BC's bread and butter, has gone through a lot of changes, from Man, Man-Zone, and back to man, what would be your offensive line scheme?

Kevin Rogers) Every place I have ever been has employed man and zone blocking schemes. We will do the same here. Our biggest job this spring will be to find out what we are capable of doing. We lost three starters to graduation so we have to find out who will fill those voids. Sean Devine is an outstanding offensive line coach and he has a big job in getting our young offensive linemen functional in the system.

BCD) It's early on and surely you haven't managed to get through a ton of tape yet, but from what you've seen early on....are there any players on BC's roster that are jumping out at you that you're looking forward to using on Saturday?

KR) I have not had the opportunity to look at much of our players on tape. Obviously, I have had the opportunity to discuss our players with the offensive staff which has given me a prospective on our personnel. I have also had the opportunity to watch our guys go through the off-season program. Our running backs look like a solid group. I’m sure I will find out quickly where our strengths and weaknesses are once we put the pads on. I have been impressed with the effort that the guys give when they come to work.

BCD) In recruiting, what will your involvement be? What are some traits you look for in a recruit?

KR) As of now I have been involved in speaking to current juniors when they call in to contact the coaches that are their primary recruiters. I’m sure that I will be involved in recruiting all of the players that we recruit on the offensive side of the ball

Traits looked for in a recruit:

Physical attributes of a prospect are specific to the position he plays. When I say physical attributes I talking about size, strength and speed.

Does the prospect fit what we are looking for at BC? Can he make it here academically? Will he represent Our program in a positive way on campus and in the community. The evaluation on tape is the deciding factor if the prospect is a good student and citizen. How productive is he? Does he play like he loves it? How instinctive is he? Is he willing to work at his game mentally and physically?

BCD) Kevin, what would you like to see us, the BC fans and alums do to support this team in the upcoming season? We're going to expect a lot out of our Eagles so we want to know what we can do to help

KR) To be the great fans they are. Stay behind us good times and bad. Create a great home field advantage! Be our 12^th man.

BCD) Virginia Tech is already an ACC rival to BC, but tell us the truth, have you already circled October 22nd on your calendar?

KR) Had no idea when we were playing VT on that date until your e-mail. Our most important game will be the next game we play.

BCD) Who mentored you, and how would you describe your style of coaching?

KR) I have been very fortunate to work for and with some great coaches. I feel I’ve learned something at every stop. I have never really contemplated my coaching style. I guess I’m just myself. I didn’t get into this business to be miserable. I enjoy being around the coaches and players. I think of coaching the same way I do of parenting. I have three adult children that have turned out very well so I know it’s a good approach.

BCD) BC opens this year against a couple of D1A opponents (FCS) in Northwestern and Central Florida. Would you rather have a couple tune-up games against FBS opponents / smaller conference foes or dive right into the action?

KR) I think the schedule is fair. We should find out what we’re all about quickly. We will be concerned about us, not who we are playing.

BCD) How many pairs of free Wranglers did Brett Farve give you, and did you ever play football in the rain with him like he does in his commercials? Running in wet jeans always seemed rather uncomfortable to me. What's up with that?

KR) I have received no Wranglers! Brett is cheap! Knowing him, he might play touch football in the rain.

BCD)BC fans are starved for a more exciting offense in 2011. What can you tell us that we have to look forward to?

KR) I’m not one to make bold predictions. I’m looking forward to finding out what our capabilities are. It’s not about the X’s and the O’s-It’s about the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s! Great players make great coaches.

BCD) What made you take the job at BC, and why do you feel you are a good fit?

KR) Boston College is a great university with a great tradition in a great city. I’m from the east coast. I’m closer to family and friends. Everyone I met made me feel like I was wanted. During this process Coach Spaziani was very fair and understanding . He’s a good man. I have known Gene Defilippo for some time and I believe he’s as good an AD as there is in the business. I think I’m a good fit for several reasons. I have extensive experience coaching and recruiting in the east. I have coached in the ACC. I think the fact that I have coached in the NFL is also a positive.

BCD) Given your history with Donovan McNabb, Tyrod Taylor, Tavaris Jackson, and others--you have been successful with mobile dual-threat QB's, should BC fans expect you to try to recruit to that sort of mold of QB, or are you looking to use more drop-back type passers?

KR)The primary physical attribute that you look for in a QB is his ability to throw the ball. It always is an added feature to have an athletic quarterback that has the ability to buy time in the pocket and create his own play. Often times they can create a play better than the one you call. In the end the quality that makes Qbs great is not measured on paper. Do they have the”IT” factor. Matt Ryan and Tom Brady are examples of QBs that have IT

BCD) My wife (BCMike) is a Hokie and was visibly upset when I told her we scored you as our new OC. She said she's very sad and had always hoped you would come back to Blacksburg. I told her: "Nah-nah!!" Correct response?

KR) Looking forward to meeting your wife. Is she from Virginia? I love the Hokies! I had four great years there. People were great to me. There was a lot of rumor and innuendo about me going back there but that’s where it ended.

2/28 Draft: Things that make us optimistic in 2011

This is the time of the year where we're all optimistic, everything is possible and all of the glasses are half-full.

While last year's season was a roller-coaster ride the likes we haven't seen in quite some time--if ever--this season gives us plenty to look forward to. Here Wesley and I break down some of the things that have us plenty excited about the 2011 season.

1M) Gary Tranquil is gone

Free at last, free at last! Thank Spaz almighty, I’m free at last! The ever-painful Tranq era blissfully comes to an end. Is Kevin Rogers the answer? I don’t know, but I can tell you one thing—the answer sure as hell wasn’t Gary Tranquil. The fact that I don’t have to watch: run off guard on 1st down, run off tackle 2nd down, and 7 yard pass play on 3rd and 8 drive in and drive out virtually guarantees it will be more fun to be an Eagles fan this year.

I’m sure Gary Tranquil is a nice guy (hell, maybe he’s a real a-hole, I don’t know), but as a football coach I don’t think I can think of one that was so ba….oh wait. Actually, Dana Bible was pretty brutal---but arguably much better than Tranq—something I never thought I would be able to say about anyone.

Which reminds me…why did we get rid of Steve Logan again? Anyone? Anyone?


2W) Returning QB that SHOULD show progression.

Man it sure is hard to follow up with that one. As all the draft experts probably would have taken that in the first round as well.

I am going with Rettig returning. Last year we anticipated that Shins would be back, and progress from where he left off in 2009, heck I was definitely cheering for the guy, and still am. But he didn’t progress, somehow he actually regressed in my opinion. Rettig played this year as a true frosh, and we had a record over .500, well I think with the OC change, and added focus, time etc for Rettig he will show that those glimpses of greatness were just foreshadowing the rest of his career at the Heights.


3M) This is how we do it

It’s Saturday, and I feel OK. The game is here on the East Coast, so I look to Montel and he turns it up—O-Line U made a hole bigger than a truck. Hit the TD dance ‘cause he made it—Eagles in the stands say “Monty yo you made it!”

The hood has been good to Montel ever since he was a lower case RB…but now he’s got the records---dolla dolla bills y’all!

Okay, enough of that—but it really will be terrific to have Montel back next year—and HEALTHY! I think the Andre Williams mix-up in tempo and style will really help Montel keep fresh and beat up defenses. Our running attack should be an excellent one next year if we can keep both of our backs healthy.


4W) No question on 1-2 punch

It seems like it’s a trend the past few seasons the backup RB leaves about midseason, now im not going to dive into why they left, how they left,etc. I wish both of them good fortune in their life. But it just seems like the 2 punch , of the 1-2 punch is a hard position to fill. At the end of the regular season last year I feel that question has been answered, and answered well. Andre Williams is a GREAT change of pace from a the shifty Harris. I truly feel confident with our running game, now they just need a crafty nickname.


5M) No Gary Tranquil

That’s right, I’m putting it here again. It’s not that I have a lack of other things to say, but rather this one deserves two high round call-outs.

I swear, I'm not being lazy here. The Tranquil offense literally drove me insane. The only person that's possibly more happy about this change than I am is my wife--as she'll enjoy not having to hear me kvetch about his play-calling / offense any longer.





6W) O-Line U back in rhythm

This is a prediction, mixed with hope and fluffy pink bunnies.

In 2010 , there was ENTIRELY too much rotation for an offensive line to create any cohesion , and even with VERY good players, they were put into bad positions. Another issue was the Man to Zone, Zone- Man, then back to Man issue, another topic really but stability is key on the offensive line. Although we are losing some great men from the line, I feel that the Offensive line is going to take a HUGE step forward from last year., and very excited to see the product they bring to the field.



7M) Young Guns playing early…again

One of the nice things about Spaz is that he’s shown he doesn’t care if you’re a 5th year senior or a true frosh—if you’re talented and the best guy for the job; it’s yours to take. Last year we saw plenty of young guys stepping in and making an impact as true freshman, which is exciting if you follow recruiting and like to get a glimpse of what the new guys bring to the table. I think you’ll see a lot of young guys hit the field this year again for our Eagles which I always really enjoy.


8W) Better Schedule

I am soo sick and DAMN tired of watching my team on ESPN3, or espn 360 if that’s what you wanna call it. Football isn’t intended to be watching intensely on a computer. Its made to watch on 70 inch screens, with the volume up full bore with multiple pitchers of beer on standby. With the dramatic improvement in the schedule we should have a lot more games that are televised in the more traditional manner.


9M) Sleeping Soundly with the kicking game

Truly a luxury, how many teams and fans can go into the year secure and happy with not one good kicker—but two in Twigs and Freese. We stressed this last year a good bit but it deserves mention again. Special teams truly are a large part of every game and not having to worry about a kicker who’s mentally schizo or a punter who gets a case of the shanks at an inopportune time, we have to guys who we can rely on game in and game out. It’s like a nice warm blanket of kicking confidence.


10W) And you thought they couldn’t be any better..

Granted we will miss Herzy, Morrissey, and others , our Linebacker corps will without question be better., with even more depth than they had last year. We have 3 very talented incoming freshman at LB, that will more than likely redshirt, or play sparingly. But the further emergence of KPL, and Superman Keeks, it would be hard to contend that we still will have one of the best group of linebackers in the league.. Only question is who fills the open void and plays with these two monsters? With plenty of options, I am going to sleep well tonight that we are like some waffle house hash browns in this area. Draft 2-22: Draft the new BC commitments

BC Faithful,

Apologize for the delay, we didn't intend on taking that long of hiatus, but sometimes life happens, and for that we apologize. We would like to get the thoughts on the newest commitments to the Boston College football program. Who is going to impact the program, do we have the next Matt Ryan? Kiwi? Let us know what you think!

1)ALJ, DB

Let me state the facts, our BIGGEST area of need, was secondary, I honestly don’t feel as if that was debatable. ALJ was very highly thought of, he is a local, and has some serious skills. After Randy Shannon left Miami, ALJ had to reconsider his options for his next 4-5 years of his life, and he chose the heights. I expect to see him getting some PT this season.

2) Max Ricci, DT

Yes, yes—I know—the stars aren’t there but you can’t teach size and Ricci’s got that plus the strength to go with it. BC’s been very fortunate to have some great LB’s to come through the program but they are more effective—as is our overall defense—when we plug up the middle with a big body and force single coverage on our DE’s. I think we’ll look back at Ricci being a key to this class in a couple of years.

3) Christian Suntrup, QB
You know, I always get a bit nervous when guys do press releases to announce where they plan to attend college, but Suntrup chose the Eagles, so I thoroughly enjoyed it. I come from the school of thought, that one Good QB recruited every year is what a school needs. Well we needed a stud qb, and I think we got one. Michigan and Miami came in late, but he held true to his BC commitment

4) Connor Wujciak, DE

While it’s true that nothing is guaranteed whenever you sign a brother of a standout player—more often than not that player is not only just as good, but better. Yes, there are exceptions to that rule but given what big brother has done at College Park I think we just notched another tick on our belt as “LB-U”.

5) Manuel Asprilla, DB

I hate to lump a player in with another , but I feel that Asprilla is a very similar recruit to ALJ.. while that is no disservice to Asprilla at all. He is a great talent , local, but was in my opinion a bit underrated. What I do think about Asprilla is he probably redshirts to put on some weight, and he wasn’t an early enrollee.

6) Sean Duggan, LB

Keeping the Cincy connection going strong, Duggan committed early on and I believe helped bring Daniels along with him to a smaller extent. Not that you can ever really profile a guy like Keeks and expect to get someone like his freakish ability, but Duggan to me looks like a Keeks, quacks like a Keeks, smells like a Keeks… I don’t know that he’s necessarily going to star at LB, but he’s a player and will star somewhere.

7) Steven Daniels, LB

I want to give Steven Daniels a round of applause on his recruiting process. Go ahead I’ll give you a minute. Daniels came out of the same Cincy connection that Duggan came from, and Keuchly . But without a doubt it seems that he wanted to make his own waves, because after Duggan committed to BC , Daniels was still a no comment stage. I felt that Daniels is ready to make some serious waves of his own, although the shadow of Keeks isn’t a bad place to be, he wanted and definitely deserved his own light. I think Daniels may get some PT, but nothing substantial unless injury, basically because of our incredible depth at linebacker right now. I personally would prefer to see him RS.

8) Curt Evans, WR

As long as I’ve been following recruiting, I’ve been able to come to one undeniable, unwavering conclusion: It’s a crap shoot. That being said, you always would RATHER have a “five star” guy than a “two star” guy, but to me the best judge of a talent is what sort of other offers a player has. Sure, there can be guys who are under-recruited and not offered by many; I’m not speaking about those guys. I’m talking about ones who scouts grow on as time goes by and wind up with an impressive offer list. That’s the case with Evans. I think he was wooed by just about everyone under the sun the last couple weeks of the recruiting process and I always dig guys that make their commitment to us and stand by it regardless of who comes knocking. Here’s to Evans having an outstanding career at The Heights—he’s already on his way to being a great Eagle by being a man of his word and honoring his commitment.

9) Liam Porter, OL

Mike good call with Evans.. a huge need at BC , I would probably put right behind Secondary.

I am going to go out on a small limb on my last pick with Liam Porter. I like the potential he has for several reasons. One big reason is he had some work to do in the classroom and he did it, this definitely shows some discipline. He always wanted BC, and wasn’t really recruited otherwise, and he met that goal, and I think he is going to come in with a nice sized chip on his shoulder for not getting too many looks and bulldoze some Defensive lineman, and show why he wanted BC, and why BC wanted him

10) Mehdi Abdesmad, DE

I don’t know why, but I really like taking flyers on international kids. Sure, sometimes they dominate because the lesser level of competition, but you can make the same argument as to why they’re under-recruited---people don’t think they can play with the big boys. Well, you can only beat what’s in front of you and some of these kids just need that extra challenge. Plus—let’s be honest here—we sincerely need someone (anyone?) to help pressure the QB so even if Abdesmad turns out to be merely serviceable he’s a great get for us.

Draft Christmas: Blessings in 2010

Merry Christmas to everyone from BCDraft, for our Christmas draft we wanted to draft the blessings in 2010 in BC Football that we are thankful. Drafting ten was very easy, and I am sure we left some off, although 2010 didn’t get us the record we desired, it definitely was full of things to be thankful for.

1W) Mark Herzlich return..

BCMike, you know which one I have to take first.. so I’ll take it.

This is multi fold.. one that he survived treatment, two that he was able to walk move normally live a normal life, three he was able to play football again, four he is going to the senior bowl to showcase for the NFL draft.. If that isn’t a modern day miracle I really don’t know what is..

2M) Five straight wins

Sure, they were preceded by 5 straight losses, but could you imagine where we would be without these last five wins?

3W) Luke even better

Luke had a phenomenal year in 2009..As a true freshman , he played outstanding.. well amazing happened he got even better.. Luke raised the bar on himself and then used it for jump rope.. Leading the nation in tackles as a sophomore and extending his 10 tackles or greater to 21 games, is just a couple of crazy stats that I think as fans is hard for us to even put our arms around.

4M) Freshman influx

From Andre Williams to KPL, Rettig to Swigert, Amidon to CJ, this year's Eagles relied heavily on new freshman stepping up and making a difference. Some learning curves were steeper than others, but point if fact is that we enter 2011 with a ton of young talent.

5W) Montel Harris being Montel Harris

When we were having question marks at QB, youth at WR, a line that was trying to gel. Montel took the team on his shoulders as he carried the ball 40+ times in some games..We were able to own the clock, move the ball and settle the other positions down as Montel showed great leadership of doing whatever it takes to win.. Montel is just about 1000 yards shy of being the leading ACC rusher..

6M) Our schedule
The coastal didn't wind up being the murderer's row that folks thought--nor was the Atlantic a complete pile as others had suggested before the start of the season; but facts are facts and this schedule was still the most friendly we have had in recent memory. Yes, there were some quality teams on it, but for a team that played so many young and inexperienced players, it sure helped that we were able to do so against opponents we had a legitimate shot of beating

7W) Run D

BCMike good call on our schedule.. truly a blessing, and one that we won’t really have in 2011..You know when we did our Best QBs we face in 2010 just before the start of the season, it was a bit hard to draft..But teams that preferred to use their running game , well that is a different story. And that was a huge reason for the success this year..As Boston College’s Run D is rated number one in the nation!

8M) Our bowl match-up

Usually BC is playing teams that have two, sometimes three more losses on the year. This year, we're playing a team that has FIVE more WINS than we do. While Nevada might not be a name many folks are familiar with, they only have loss (six point loss at #24 Hawaii) and are ranked in the BCS as #13. This game is being played Sunday night the last game before the MNC game and competing against no other bowl games.

Many eyes will be on the Eagles January 9th, and most will be tuning in to find out more about Nevada--but this is a chance for us to show them what BC can do. We are very fortunate to be playing such a high caliber opponent on such a big national stage.

9W) Castonzo

BCMike, I like the bowl match-up as well, heck I’m semi thrilled that we were able to make a bowl.This year we had a lot of stories, and I feel like we could triple the length of this draft and not cover all of them.. but Castonzo was/is a blessing for several reasons.. He was nominated for a Rhodes and made it pretty far down the process.. He is a chemistry major and could possibly be a first round draft pick this year. Castonzo keeps the O line U tradition, and puts an explanation point after the term student-athelete!

10M) Our relationship with the players, prospects, coaches, etc.

Part of what we do here that our readers enjoy is our interviews and roundtables with prospective, current, and former players. Without them taking the time out of their day and doing interviews with us, we would be just another blog. We look forward to our relationship with BC, the coaches, and players to continue to grow in 2011, but are most appreciative of the work done in 2010.

Draft 12-22: Bowl Game Beatdowns

Well here it is, Bowl Season and we are here to Draft what we feel will be the biggest beatdowns of the post season. If you enjoyed watching General Custard's last stand, tune in to these games, as we predict about the same outcome.

1M) UCan't vs. Oklahoma

As if being a BC fan isn't tough enough, we get to see the girl slap division of college football put forth their sacrificial lamb to the BCS in the form of a lucky, mediocre, uninspiring heap of meh in the UCan't Huskies. The only folks who are more disappointed in this development than I am are the OU faithful, who were under the impression that with a great year they would be able to play a premiere team in a huge bowl game with a gigantic TV audience. So, instead of playing—say, a top 15 team and being the only bowl game on that day and scoring HUGE TV ratings (that's what BC gets)—they get the rat turd that is UCan't. While the Sooners certainly won't be trying their hardest against the Puppies, they'll still be able to win this game by forty points with the second-stringers.

I will say this is yet another good reason to abandon the BCS so thanks, Puppies. Any step towards BCS destruction I welcome.

2W)Nebraska / Washington

Although, this one I have less reasoning than I do for future picks.. This one is my gut pick. No comment.

3M)Ok St/ Arizona

If we were in a playoff system, Okie State would be a team I would certainly look long and hard at. They're far from a perfect squad but I think they can play with anyone and they seem to rise to the occasion when playing other major teams in the spotlight. Arizona has vastly improved, but let's face it—they shouldn't be on the same field with the Pokes this year.

4W) FSU/ USCe

The U is back, the other one.. FSU.. with a solid coach, and a year to get into a system , they are ready.. USC on the other hand was more of a fire cracker.. So I have to say.. Welcome back to Atlanta USC, are you having night terrors from your last visit here against Auburn? The outcome I plan on it being very similar.. on the losing end.

5M) Boise State to prison rape Utah.

Folks, if you want to see what happens when you steal a twinkie from the biggest guy in the prison and really piss him off—I present to you the Boise State / Utah game. The Utes fooled me and much of America earlier in the year before being exposed as the posterboy for a paper tiger in 2010. Unlike many who think Boise is a flash in the pan, I'm a believer that they're a legit top five team and Boise has shown in the past they have no problem running up the score to prove a point. Expect to see a big point with lots of points in this one.

6W) Wisconsin to hurt TCU's feelings

Wisconsin reminds TCU why they aren't in the BCS… yet.. with a shellacking. Although TCU comes in sitting outside of the bubble of the National Championship, it has its hands full. Wisconsin lost one game this year against MSU, but has been pounding teams week in and week out otherwise..Both Teams are averaging a great spread over their opponents, Wisconsin has done it against a lot better competition.. I see this one getting ugly about 1:31 after kickoff.

7M) Oregon over Auburn
That's right, you heard it here first folks. Yes, Cam Newton is great. Yes, the SEC is amazing and never loses in big games (so I'm told), but no one can keep up with Oregon for four quarters.
Sure, you can point to the 'Bama game where the Tigers came back from 24 down to win the game—but let me ask you this: Do you think Oregon, up by 24 points to ANYONE would stop scoring? The answer in your head is no. Auburn will keep it close in the first half, but by the end the Ducks will have tuckered out the Tigers and will be scoring big points late in the game and making the final score look much more impressive than the actual game was—but it will be in the books—a shellacking of Auburn by the Ducks.

8W)ECU over Maryland..

BCMike, I don't think I can follow up your pick with a great one.. but I think this will surprise some people.. And here is why I think it happens.. This is what you call a shootout.. although Maryland will be unarmed.. ECU has basically proven all year that you have to outscore them to beat them, and by that I mean more than the obvious.. you have to put up in the 30's, 40's 50's and more.. Because they will score.. ECU's D is not great., but Maryland is currently in dismay with the dismissal of Fridge, and rumors of Leach being the replacement, I think the team has lost its personality, and mojo that got them to a bowl game.. The Terps will (turtle up) and get lit up, like the fourth of july by Dominique Davis from ECU.

9M) K-State over 'Cuse.

This is more about 'Cuse not being quite ready to handle the prime-time than anything else. K-State is a bit of a Jekyll & Hyde team, but they have a coach who has been there and knows how to get his guys up for a big game and game plan. I believe this is Marone's first bowl game and it will be interesting to see how they do…but I'm guessing not well.

10W) Navy scattering, covering and smothering SDSU..

Just like your Waffle House hashbrowns.. This is basically a home game for both teams.. Navy is good.. They really are. Ask ND who got beat 35-17, or ECU who got 76 hung on them.. Navy is a tough opponent, and I think SDSU is going to wonder what it got itself into. SDSU has had a good season, but this is going to spin them into oblivion going into the offseason.

Well, this season has been a roller-coaster ride (and one we didn't necessarily sign up for at that), but all is well that ends well. We're playing a top 15 team in a bowl game after NYE. Hell, it sounds pretty good when you put it like that.

Wesley suggested the great idea that we draft movies that best encapsulate our feelings on the 2010 football season. This one was a fun one for us...

1W) Friday

We kept getting punked by people we shouldn't, like Craig was by Debo, (ya win some, ya lose some as Craig's dad says) then we found our footing after it going a bit too far and knocked Debo's ass out!






2M) Major League

After stinking it up for the first part of the season, the team rallies from behind by playing well together despite bad direction from upper management....and I felt like Harry Doyle after most games.



3W) 3 men and a baby

Mike, you beat me bad on my first pick great call with Major League..

I choose 3 men and a baby, cause I felt like we had Spaz,Tranq and Govs, with a baby (Rettig) trying to grow him, but have some serious issues on how that process should go.. oh and you can only guess who Spaz is in this movie.. lol






4m) The Mark Herzlich story: Stay up

Because we all know Mark's incredible journey and successful battle against cancer absolutely will be made in to a movie--and rightfully so. The only question is: who plays Herzy? Please don't say Shia LeBouf.....




5W) Necessary Roughness

Called the old dog back to the game etc












6M) Grumpy Old Men

I will go with "Grumpy old men". Both because of our coaches and how our fans felt most of the year.





7W) Groundhog day

Every Saturday I woke up expecting to see something completely different.. only to see the same offense., and luckily the same defense.. week in and week out.





8M) Matrix II

You are really expecting a lot out of it, there's just so much promise and there's nothing else out in the theaters so you're just expecting this movie to kill. The start is okay, and you're really ready to be wowed, but it just gets slow and is far from what you expected and you leave very disappointed. On it's own merit, it's actually a good movie, but you were just expecting a much better story than what was actually told so you come away with a taste in your mouth of what could have (should have) been.




9W) Fight Club

It was a hallucinogenic season.. is that even a word.. we started the season beating ourselves up.. and then got others into the ring..







10m) The Shawshank Redemption

Because I feel like we had to crawl through five hundred yards of shit smelling foulness that I don't want to imagine to come out free and bowl eligible on the other side.

"....Sometimes it makes me sad, though... Jags being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss Matt Ryan."
